Broadcasts let you send a single message — or a short sequence — to a filtered audience of contacts at once. Unlike a flow that runs when a trigger fires for each individual, a broadcast goes out to all matching contacts at a scheduled time. Use broadcasts for promotions, product announcements, reactivation campaigns, appointment reminders, and any other outbound communication where you control the timing.

How broadcasts work

You define a message, choose which contacts should receive it using audience filters, and either send it immediately or schedule it for a specific date and time. Waply delivers the messages across the channels your contacts are active on and tracks delivery, opens, and replies for each campaign.
Broadcasts sent over WhatsApp must use an approved WhatsApp message template. Waply will prompt you to select or create a template when you choose WhatsApp as the delivery channel. Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and Webchat broadcasts can use free-form messages.

Create a broadcast

1

Open Broadcasts

Navigate to Broadcasts in the sidebar and click New Broadcast.
2

Name your campaign

Enter an internal name for the broadcast. This name is not visible to contacts — it’s for your own reference in the campaign list.
3

Select a channel

Choose the channel through which the broadcast will be delivered: WhatsApp, Instagram DM, Facebook Messenger, or Webchat. If your contacts span multiple channels, create a separate broadcast for each.
4

Compose the message

Write your message in the composer. For WhatsApp, select an approved template and fill in any variable placeholders (e.g., {{1}} for the contact’s first name). For other channels, type your message directly. You can include images, documents, or buttons depending on the channel’s capabilities.
5

Define your audience

Use the audience filter panel to target a specific segment of your contacts. See Filter your audience below for all available filter options.
6

Schedule or send

Choose Send now to deliver immediately or Schedule to pick a date and time. Scheduled broadcasts appear in the Upcoming tab where you can edit or cancel them before delivery.
7

Review and confirm

The confirmation screen shows the estimated recipient count, the channel, the message preview, and the delivery time. Click Confirm to finalize. Waply begins queuing messages immediately.
Once a broadcast starts sending, you cannot edit the message or audience. You can cancel an in-progress broadcast from the campaign list, but messages already delivered cannot be recalled.

Filter your audience

Audience filters let you target the contacts most relevant to your campaign. You can combine multiple filters — Waply applies them with AND logic, so a contact must match all selected criteria to be included.
Select one or more tags to include only contacts who have been tagged with all (or any) of your chosen tags. For example, send only to contacts tagged VIP or Summer Sale 2025.
Target contacts at a specific stage in your pipeline — Lead, Qualified, Customer, Churned, or any custom stages you have defined. This is useful for sending different messages to prospects vs. existing customers.
Limit recipients to contacts active on a specific channel. This is useful when you are crafting a channel-specific message format or testing a campaign on one channel before rolling it out more broadly.
Target contacts based on the value of any custom field — for example, contacts where Plan equals Growth, or where Last purchase date is within the last 30 days. This enables highly precise segmentation without needing to maintain separate contact lists.
Save frequently used filter combinations as segments in the Contacts section. You can then select a saved segment as your broadcast audience in one click.

Schedule a broadcast

Scheduling lets you plan campaigns in advance and send at the optimal time for your audience — such as a weekday morning when open rates are highest.
  • Select Schedule on the delivery step and choose a date and time.
  • Waply uses the timezone set in your workspace settings. Verify your workspace timezone under SettingsGeneral before scheduling.
  • Scheduled broadcasts appear in the Upcoming tab on the Broadcasts page. You can edit the message, audience, or send time until the broadcast enters the delivery queue.
  • To cancel a scheduled broadcast, open it from the Upcoming tab and click Cancel broadcast.

Track campaign results

After a broadcast is sent, Waply tracks performance metrics in real time. Open the broadcast from the Sent tab to view its report.
MetricWhat it measures
DeliveredNumber of contacts who received the message successfully.
FailedMessages that could not be delivered (invalid number, blocked, or channel error).
Read / OpenedContacts who opened or read the message (available on WhatsApp and Webchat).
RepliedContacts who sent a reply after receiving the broadcast.
Reply ratePercentage of delivered messages that received a reply.
WhatsApp read receipts are only available when the recipient has read receipts enabled on their device. A lower read count does not necessarily mean the message was not seen.
Clicking a metric opens a filtered contact list of everyone in that group, so you can follow up specifically with contacts who replied or take action on failed deliveries.

Plan limits

The number of broadcast campaigns and recipients you can reach each month depends on your Waply plan.
PlanCampaigns per monthMax recipients per campaign

Growth105,000

If you reach your monthly campaign limit, the New Broadcast button is disabled until your next billing cycle begins. Upgrade your plan under SettingsBilling to increase your limits immediately.
Recipient counts are calculated at the time you confirm the broadcast, not when you first create it. If contacts are added to or removed from your filtered audience between creation and delivery, the final count may differ from the estimate shown during setup.
